MTI in the News: Meat processors examining earlier age of slaughter through the use of ultrasound scanning of fat

The Irish farmers Journal features the MTI supported study evaluating ultrasound scanning of body fat as an indicator to permit earlier age of slaughter, whilst still achieving desired cattle fat, along with carcass weight. The article highlights the potential to reduce both methane emissions and feed costs, through a reduction in the age of slaughter as indicated through an ultrasound scanning approach.
